السلام عليكم و رحمة الله

Dear brothers and sisters , I kindly wish to begin my presence among you with starting a useful and applicable subject. It's going to be a series of lessons written by me that introduce fundamental English grammar and writing rules.

That is , in order to express our ideas in the best manner , we need to write full meaningful sentences

أي أننا لنعبر عن أفكارنا باللغة الانكليزية بالطريقة الصحيحة يجب ان نعلم كيف نكون جملة كاملة و صحيحة

Thus, we need to know what does a sentence constitute of

اذا – اولا يجب ان نرى مما تتألف الجملة

Any sentence should have=

Subject – verb – (object or no object)

فاعل – فعل – (مفعول به أو من غير مفعول به)

The subject can be either a noun , a pronoun , or a noun phrase

الفاعل يكون اما اسم أو ضمير أو جملة اسمية

So , let us start with the NOUN

Nouns are divided into 2 groups :

Proper nouns – Common nouns

Proper noun الاسم العلم

Names of people, places, companies, institutions >> with the first letter capitalized, i.e., Kuwait

اذا اسماء العلم هي اسماء الاشخاص , الاماكن , البلدان , الشركات ..+ تكبير أول حرف

Common nouns are all other remaining nouns

They, too, are divided into 2 groups :

Countable and Non-countable nouns

باقي الاسماء المعروفة تقسم ايضا الى قسمين

اسماء تعد أو تحصى و اسماء لا تعد

الاسماء التي تعد COUNTABLE NOUNS

Are those that can be counted with numbers

By adding certain letters to the noun to put it in its plural form, and we can classify them in the following way:

Regular Plural Nouns اسماء الجمع العادية

. words that end with s , z , x , sh , ch >>>>add +es

e.g. – dresses , bushes , churches , boxes

اذا , لقد قمنا بزيادة اي و اس تلك الاحرف على الاسماء القابلة للعدد و حولناها الى صفة الجمع

المثل .... ثياب , أدغال , كنائس , علب

. add only s to words like = passengers , halls , baskets

هنا قمنا بزيادة حرف واحد للجمع – المثل – ركاب , ردهات , سلل ,

* words that end with o >>>

. add s to words like = studios , pianos الة موسيقية

. add es to words like = heroes , potatoes بطاطا

. add s/es to words like = volcanos / volcanoes براكين

* words that end with y >>>

. remove y and add ies = baby >> babies اطفال

. just add s like in keysمفاتيح

* Nouns that end with f or fe :

. change to -ves in plural = knife > knives سسكاكين

leaf > leaves اوراق الشجر

shelf > shelves رفوف

other words ending with f -- just add s :

cliffs منحدر

roofs سطوح

chiefs مسؤولين

* there are words that remain the same in singular and plural like =

deer غزال - fish سمك - means اساليب - species فصيلة

اذا هذه الاسماء تحصى او تعد دو ان تتغير طرقة كتابتها

فيمكنك ان تقول مثلا

one fish , two fish , three fish .... without adding an s

* the last regular plural nouns here are borrowed from other languages =

criterion > criteria طريقة

phenomenon > phenomena ظاهرة

stimulus > stimuli محفز

datum > data احصاء

و نتابع لاحقا في اسماء الجمع الغير عادية و الاسماء التي لا تجمع

اتمنى الافادة

the coming lessons will be about irregular plural nouns and the non-countable nouns

I wish you comment on how much do you think the previous material could be useful

**thanks alot**
