A long time ago,there was a huge apple tree
منذزمن بعيدولى.كان هناك شجرةتفاح في غايةالضخامة
A little boy loved to come and play around it everyday
كان هناك طفل صغيريلعب حول هذه الشجرةيوميا
He climbed to the treetop, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow
وكان يتسلق أغصان هذه الشجرةويأكل من ثمارها..وبعدهايغفو قليلالينام في ظلها
He loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him
كان يحب الشجرةوكانت الشجرةتحب لعبه معها
Time went by..the little boy had grown up
مر الزمن وكبرهذا الطفل
And he no longer played around the tree every day
وأصبح لايلعب حول هذه الشجرةبعد ذلك
One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad.
في يوم من الأيام.رجع هذاالصبي وكان حزينا!
Come and play with me,” the tree asked the boy
فقالت له الشجرة:تعال والعب معي
I am no longer a kid, I do not play around trees any more"
The boy replied.
فأجابهاالولد:لم أعدصغيرالألعب حولك
"I want toys. I need money to buy them."
أناأريدبعض اللعب وأحتاج بعض النقودلشرائها
"Sorry, but I do not have money
فأجابته الشجرة:أنا لا يوجدمعي أيةنقود!!
But you can pick all my apples and sell them
So, you will have money.
ولكن يمكنك أن تأخذكل التفاح الذي لدي لتبيعه ثم تحصل على النقود التي تريدها
" The boy was so excited
كان الولدسعيداللغاية
He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily
فتسلق الشجرةوجمع جميع ثما التفاح التي عليهاونزل من عليهاسعيدا
The boy never came back after he picked the apples
لم يعدالولدبعدها
The tree was sad
كانت الشجرةفي غايةالحزن لعدم عودته
One day, the boy who now turned into a man returned
وذات يوم رجع هذاالولدللشجرةولكنه لم يعدولدابل أصبح رجلا!!!
And the tree was excited "Come and play with me" the tree said
وكانت الشجرةفي منتهى السعادةلعودته وقالت له:تعال والعب معي
"I do not have time to play. I have to work for my family
ولكنه أجابها:
أنالم أعدطفلالألعب حولك مرةأخرى فقدأصبحت رجلامسئولاعن عائلة
We need a house
وأحتاج لبيت ليكون لهم مأوى
Can you help me?
هل يمكنك مساعدتي بهذا؟
" Sorry”,
آسفة!!!
But I do not have any house. But you can chop off my branches
To build your house
فأناليس عندي لك بيت ولكن يمكنك أن تأخذجميع أفرعي لتبني بهالك بيتا
" So the man cut all the branches of the tree and left happily
فأخذالرجل كل الأفرع وغادرالشجرةوهوسعيد
The tree was glad to see him happy but the man never came back since then
وكانت الشجرةسعيدةلسعادته ورؤيته هكذا.ولكنه لم يعدإليها
The tree was again lonely and sad.
وأصبحت الشجرةحزينةمرةأخرى
One hot summer day,
وفي يوم حارجدا
The man returned and the tree was delighted
عادالرجل مرةأخرى وكانت الشجرةفي منتهى السعادة
"Come and play with me!" the tree said.
فقالت له الشجرة:تعال والعب معي
"I am getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself
فقال لهاالرجل أنافي غاية التعب وقد بدأت في الكبر.وأريدأن أبحرلأي مكان لأرتاح
“Can you give me a boat?"
“Said the man”.
فقال لهاالرجل:هل يمكنك إعطائي مركبا
"Use my trunk to build your boat
You can sail far away and be happy
فأجابته يمكنك أخذ جزعي لبناء مركبك.وبعدهايمكنك أن تبحربه أينماتشاء.وتكون سعيدا
" So the man cut the tree trunk to make a boat
فقطع الرجل جذع الشجرةوصنع مركبه!!
He went sailing and never showed up for a long time
فسافرمبحراولم يعدلمدةطويلةجدا...
Finally, the man returned after many years.
أخيرا عادالرجل بعدغياب طويل وسنوات طويلةجدا
"Sorry, my boy. But I do not have anything for you anymore
ولكن الشجرةأجابت وقالت له:آسفةيا بني الحبيب ولكن لم يعدعندي أي شئ لأعطيه لك
No more apples for you
" The tree said”.
وقالت له:لا يوجدتفاح
"No problem, I do not have any teeth to bite
" The man replied
قال لها:لا عليك لم يعدعندي أي أسنان لأقضمهابها
"No more trunk for you to climb on"
لم يعد عندي جذع لتتسلقه ولم يعدعندي فروع لتجلس عليها
"I am too old for that now" the man said
فأجابهاالرجل لقدأصبحت عجوزااليوم ولاأستطيع عمل أي شئ!!
"I really cannot give you anything
فأخبرته:أنافعلالايوجدلدي ماأعطيه لك
The only thing left is my dying root,”
The tree said with tears
كل مالدي الآن هوجذورميتة.أجابته وهي تبكي
"I do not need much now, just a place to rest
فأجابهاوقال لها:كل ما أحتاجه الآن هومكان لأستريح به
I am tired after all these years" the man replied
فأنامتعب بعدكل هذه السنون
"Good! Old tree roots are the best place to lean on and rest,
فأجابته وقالت له:جذورالشجرةالعجوزهي أنسب مكان لك للراحة
Come, come sit down with me and rest
تعال..تعال واجلس هناواسترح معي
" The man sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears
فنزل الرجل إليهاوكانت الشجرةسعيدةبه والدموع تملأابتسامتها
This is you and the tree is your parent!!!!
